Consumption of pasta made from refined flour is not recommended during pregnancy to avoid unnecessary weight gain. The almonds make this delicacy vitamin e rich and the cheese further adds calcium to create a thoroughly satisfying meal.

3 cups boiled whole wheat spaghetti
1/2 cup sliced onions
1 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1 cup boiled mixed vegetables
1 recipe white sauce
1/4 cup cream
1/4 cup grated processed cheese
1/4 cup roasted and chopped almonds (badam)
3/4 tsp french style mustard
1 tbsp oil
salt and to taste

  1. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan, add the onions and sauté till they turn translucent.
  2. Add the red chilli flakes and vegetables and sauté for a couple of minutes.
  3. Add the spaghetti, white sauce, cream, cheese, almonds, mustard paste, salt and pepper and mix gently.
  4. Cook for a few more minutes.
  5. Serve hot.

It was quite flavourful though the proportion of veggies were more than the pasta. Much healthier way to satisfy your palate for Italian delicacies. I liked the addition of almonds to the pasta to get sum protein and iron.
