Tomatoes tempered with mustard seeds and ginger and served with sev. Sev is fine vermicelli made from deep-fried gram flour paste

Cooking Time: 10 to 12 mins.
Serves 4.

  1. Heat the oil, add the cumin seeds, asafoetida and ginger and stir 30 seconds.
  2. Add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seed powder, sugar and salt and simmer for a while.
  3. Just before you wish to serve, add the sev and mix well.
  4. Serve hot with chapatis.
