a pinch of asafoetida (hing)

For Serving

Method
  1. Combine the semolina, mixed vegetables, curds, ginger-green chilli paste, oil, salt and 1½ cups of water in a deep bowl and mix well to make a smooth batter. Cover and keep aside to ferment for atleast 30 minutes.

  7. Heat the oil in a small pan, add the mustard seeds, sesame seeds and asafoetida and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  8. Pour the tempering over the prepared dhoklas.

I make this recipe very often to carry it in the tiffin. They are quick and filling. It is very helpful when you are in a hurry and want something quick, filling and tasty. The veggies add a crunch to the dhokla giving it a nice mouthfeel. Have it with green chutney, it will taste even better.

Kids loved it. The buttermilk and low spice content made perfect dhoklas.
