Ingredients


4 large potatoes ,peeled and cut into fingers
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1/4 tsp black salt (sanchal)
salt to taste

Other ingredients
oil for deep-frying
lemon wedges to serve

Method
  1. Parboil the potatoes in salted water for 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
  2. Mix together the chilli powder, cumin seed powder, black salt and salt in a small bowl. Keep aside.
  3. Deep fry the potato fingers in hot oil over a medium flame till they are crisp.
  4. Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle the masala mixture on top.
  5. Serve hot with lemon wedges and ketchup.

Tips
  1. Use the variety of potatoes with a higher starch content popularly called French Freis Potatoes.
  2. You can use a serrated knife to make crinkled potato fingers as shown in the picture.
