Ingredients


1 small can (450 grams) pears
1 packet (100 grams) pineapple jelly
200 gms (7 oz.) fresh cream
3 tbsp powdered sugar
2 tbsp curds (dahi)
6 tbsp crushed marie biscuit
4 tbsp melted butter

Method
  1. Slice the pears.
  2. Dissolve the jelly in 2 teacups of boiling water. Cool. Put to set partially in the refrigerator.
  3. Beat the cream with the sugar until thick.
  4. Mix the partially set jelly, curds and three-quarters of the cream. Taste and add more powdered sugar if required.
  5. Mix the biscuits and butter very well and press evenly into a 175 or 200 mm. (7" or 8") diameter loose bottom tin. Place in the refigerator until the crust is firm.
  6. Arrange the pear slices on the top of the crust.
  7. Pour the jelly mixture over the crust and put to set in the refrigerator.
  8. When set, remove the pie from the tin. Decorate with remaining cream and pears.
  9. Cut into slices and serve. If you like, sprinkle a little praline powder on top.
