Pav sandwich, there are times when you want something light, yet filling. Those strange times when you think a sandwich will be the best thing, though it might still leave a little room in the tummy! this stouter brother of the humble sandwich might be just what you need- try this rare snack of laadi pav flavoured and roasted on the tava and stuffed with basic sandwich fillings.

Makes 4 plates


Ingredients

4 laddi pav
6 tbsp butter
1/4 cup chilli-garlic paste
1 medium sized onion , peeled and
cut into thin slices
3 mediumsized potatoes , boiled ,
peeled and cut into slices
2 medium sized tomatoes , cut into thin slices
salt to taste

Method
  1. Slit each pav vertically and keep aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of butter on a tava (griddle), add 1 tbsp of chilli-garlic paste and sauté on a medium flame for a second.
  3. Place the pav on it and turn immediately on the other side so that it gets evenly coated from both the sides.
  4. Open the pav and place it downwards on tava, add another ½ tbsp of butter and cook the pav on a medium flame for a minute, while moving it on tava.
  5. Remove on clean, dry surface, open the upper portion and arrange 2 to 3 onion slices, 4 to 5 potato slices and 4 to 5 tomato slices on the lower portion of the pav.
  6. Sprinkle some salt evenly over the vegetables, close the upper portion of the pav and press it gently.
  7. Place the pav sandwich on a plate, cut it diagonally into 2 equal pieces and serve immediately.
  8. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more plates.
