Mung ki dal ka pakora, you will find this snack served with a very mint coriander chutney and grated radish (muli) on the roads of delhi, it is very popular. This pakodas are yummy and very easy to make.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 3 to 4 servings

200 gms moong dal (split green gram)
4 to 5 peppercorns (kalimirch)
1 tsp asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
oil for deep frying

For Serving
1 cup mint chutney
1/2 cup grated radish (mooli)
  1. Soak the dal in enough water for 1 hour.
  2. Drain and blend in a mixer using minimum water along with salt, black pepper and asafoetida to a smooth paste.
  3. Heat the oil in a kadhai and drop small balls of the paste and deep fry on slow flame till golden brown in colour from all the sides.
  4. Serve hot with phudina chutney and grated radish.
