Pressure-cooked masoor dal is cooked with mixed vegetables and spices-cinnamon, amchur, jeera and more. A tadka of fresh ghee and chili powder adds to the taste and makes your meal that much more tasty! Super!

Ingredients


1 cup uncooked masoor dal (split red lentil) or chana dal (split Bengal gram)
1 1/2 teacups mixed boiled vegetables (french beans, carrots, green peas, potatoes)
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tsp dried mango powder (amchur)
1 tomato , chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
3/4 tsp chilli powder
3 tbsp ghee
salt to taste

To be ground into a paste
6 cloves of garlic (lehsun)
6 green chillies
25 mm. piece ginger (adrak)

Method
  1. Cook the dal separately with 2 teacups of water.
  2. Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of ghee, add the onion and cumin seeds and fry for at least 2 minutes.
  3. Add the cooked dal, boiled vegetables, amchur powder, tomato, turmeric powder, paste and salt and boil for a few minutes.
  4. Just before serving, heat the remaining ghee and the chilli powder and pour immediately over the dal mixture.
  5. Serve hot.
