Pressure-cooked masoor dal is cooked with mixed vegetables and spices-cinnamon, amchur, jeera and more. A tadka of fresh ghee and chili powder adds to the taste and makes your meal that much more tasty! Super!

1 cup masoor dal (split red lentil), soaked for 30 minutes and washed
1 cup chopped and boiled mixed vegetables
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tsp dried mango powder (amchur)
1 tomato , chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp ghee
salt to taste

To be ground into a paste
6 cloves of garlic (lehsun)
6 green chillies
25 mm. (1") piece of ginger (adrak)

  1. Pressure cook the dal with 1½ cups of water.
  2. Heat the ghee in a saucepan, add the onions and cumin seeds and sauté for at least 2 minutes.
  3. Add the cooked dal, boiled vegetables, amchur powder, tomato, turmeric powder, paste and salt. Boil for a few minutes.
  4. Just before serving, heat the ghee in a small pan, add the chilli powder and pour over the dal mixture. Serve hot.
