Mangodis are crushed and cooked with tomatoes to make a delectable dish that can be relished with bajra rotis or tikkar. I am told that when tomatoes are not available, amchur (dry mango) slices are used to add tang to this dish. You can try it too, if you wish.

  1. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the crushed mangodi and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Add the tomatoes, ginger-green chilli paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt with 3 cups of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  4. Serve hot, garnished with coriander.
