Dear %Name,
Its that time of the year again when the delicious ‘king of fruits’ is available in abundance.
A comfort food! Mangoes really can make you feel better! Beyond being delicious and rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, mangos contain an enzyme with stomach soothing properties similar to papain found in papayas. These comforting enzymes act as a digestive aid and can be held partially responsible for that feeling of contentment we experience during and after our daily mango ritual. Yes, it is quite natural to crave those mangoes!
Selecting the ripeness of mangos can be a tricky affair. Here, I have provided you with some tips on how to store and select mangoes.
The ripeness of a mango can be determined by either smelling or squeezing. A ripe mango will have a full, fruity aroma emitting from the stem end. Mangos can be considered ready to eat when slightly soft to the touch and yielding to gentle pressure.
Keep unripe mangoes at room temperature to ripen, which may take up to 1 week. A paper bag might help them ripen sooner.
Once ripened the mango can be refrigerated for a few days, but should be used shortly thereafter.
Once ripe and ready to eat, mangoes can be used to make a variety of dishes. Right from the main course to desserts to healthy mocktails and smoothies…. mangos can be part of every course of your meal.
So go ahead and have fun this summer with these very innovative mango recipes!!
Happy Cooking!
Regards,
