Raitas have always been a welcome addition to indian meals. In this recipe, full fat curds have been replaced with low fat curds. The bottle gourd adds more body to this dish.

1 cup grated bottle gourd (doodhi / lauki)
1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
1 cup low fat curds (dahi) , whisked
2 tbsp mint leaves (phudina) , chopped
1/4 tsp roasted cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp black salt (sanchal)
1/2 tsp sugar

  1. Steam the bottle gourd for 4 to 5 minutes. Allow to cool completely.
  2. Combine all the ingredients in a serving bowl and whisk well.
  3. Serve chilled.
