Khichdi is an easy to digest healthy indian food prepared with a combination of rice with lentils.

  1. Clean, wash the rice and moong dal together and soak in enough water for an hour.
  2. Drain and keep aside.
  3. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the cloves, cinnamon and mustard seeds.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the ginger and garlic sauté for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the rice, moong dal, turmeric powder and salt, mix well and add 5 cups of water and mix well.
  6. Cover and pressure cook for 3 whistles or till cooked.
  7. Serve hot.
