Sesame seeds add an unusual flavours and texture to this salad.

Preparation Time: 
Serves 6.


Ingredients



For the salad
1 large capsicum, cut into thin strips
1 large carrot, cut into thin strips
4 spring onions, sliced
3 sticks celery, sliced
100 gms mushrooms, sliced (optional)
75 grams bean sprouts

To be mixed into a dressing
1/2 tablespoon soya sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 clove of garlic (lehsun), crushed
2 tbsp sesame (til) oil
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp sesame seeds (til)
salt to taste

Method
  1. Put all the ingredients except the sesame seeds in a bowl.
  2. Add the dressing and mix well.
  3. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. Serve cold.

  2. One serving of this salad contains an entire day's quota of Vitamin A.
  3. The sesame seeds and oil contain zinc which is important for the healthy functioning of the retina.
