Kathal ki sabzi is tangy and spicy dry sabzi with stir-fried jakfruit in it. Enjoy this dry kathal subzi with roti or parathas.

3 tbsp oil
500 gms deseeded and chopped jackfruit
1 cup chopped onions
1 tbsp chopped green chillies
1 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
salt to taste
3/4 cup tomato puree
2 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp chicken masala powder

For The Garnish
3 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a kadhai, add the jackfruit and saute till they turn golden brown in colour.
  2. Remove from the flame and keep aside.
  3. Heat the remaining oil in the same kadhai, add the onions, green chillies and ginger paste and saute on a slow flame till onions turn golden brown in colour.
  4. Add the salt and tomato puree and saute till the oil seperates.
  5. Add the coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and chicken masala powder, mix well and cook on a medium flame for another 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. Add the sauteed jackfruit and 1/2 cup water, mix well and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
  7. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
