Olives and olive oil are commonly used in Italian cuisine, and hence the Italian open sandwich too uses black olives lavishly. Once you have the ingredients ready, this recipe can be prepared in a jiffy as the baking time is also relatively low.

Ingredients


For The Bread
2 hot dog rolls
melted butter for brushing

To Be Mixed Into A Topping
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dried oregano
1/2 cup blanched , peeled , deseeded and chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
1 tbsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1/2 cup grated processed cheese or mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 tbsp deseeded and sliced black olives
1/2 cup capsicum cubes (red , yellow and green)
salt to taste

Method
For the bread

  1. Cut each hot dog roll lengthwise into two and brush the bread halves with a little melted butter and place them on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 4 to 5 minutes. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Divide the topping into 4 equal portions.
  2. Place a portion of the topping over each hot dog halve, spread it evenly and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 6 to 8 minutes.
  3. Serve immediately.

wow... so cheesy and soo yumm.. It tastes amazing when served with chilli sauce.. The tomatoes, olives and capsicum is a good combination.. A perfect Italian bread dish.. must try..

Love the flavor of cheese baked in a oven and the combo of blanched and cooked tomatoes with it.
