Hot Fruit Salad With Vanilla Ice-Cream

Fresh fruit is mixed in with warm fruit and sugar syrup until the flavors blend in. Brandy is heated till it catches fire and poured atop this syrupy fruit. An amazing dessert when served with ice cream!

Serves 10 to 12.


Ingredients


1 can (450 grams) mixed fruit cocktail
2 tbsp sugar
3/4 cup orange juice
1 tbsp lemon juice
a little liqueur (optional)
1 to 2 tablespoons brandy

Method
  1. Drain the fruit and keep aside the syrup from the can.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of water to the sugar and heat gently until it has melted and begins to turn golden.
  3. Add the orange juice and lemon juice and the fruit syrup. If you like, flavour with a little liqueur.
  4. Add the drained fruit and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Warm the brandy in a large spoon, set alight and pour the burning brandy over the fruit.
  6. Serve hot with vanilla ice-cream.

Tips
  1. You also can take peaches or sliced mango or pineapple as a mixed fruit cocktail.
