A unique paratha with a Mexican touch that you will relish! Thankfully, this tasty treat is also quick and easy to make because all the ingredients are combined with the whole wheat flour in one shot to make the paratha dough, rather than the cumbersome process of stuffing them.


You will surely enjoy the crunch of veggies, and the tingling notes of spices and herbs, which are abundant in this Herbed Capsicum Paratha. Chop the capsicum finely, to make it easy to roll the parathas. Since very little oil is used in cooking these parathas , make sure you serve them immediately.

Herbed Capsicum Paratha recipe - How to make Herbed Capsicum Paratha

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 5 parathas

Ingredients
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum (red , yellow and green)
2 tbsp finely chopped spring onion greens
1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1/2 tsp dried oregano
salt to taste
whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling
1 1/4 tsp oil for cooking
Method
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a soft dough using enough water.
  2. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions.
  3. Roll a portion of the dough into a 150 mm. (6”) diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.
  4. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle)and cook the paratha using ¼ tsp of oil till golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make 4 more parathas.
  6. Serve immediately.

Capsicum and Cheese Parathas

Loved these Mexican style parathas perked up with oregano and chilli flakes with some coloured capsicum. Moreover they taste great when cooked in minimal oil also. They are so yummy that when served off the tava, it doesn''t require any accompaniment.

This recipe is perfect to impress someone. MY mom likes these. I also made these for my (to be-) husband (then).. who now keeps demanding these on every little celebrations we have. The 2C combination of cheese and capsicum surprises your taste buds ending is pleasure and sounds of YUMM.
