Scrumptious, grilled paneer that is worthy of being classified as gourmet food! it is quite rich although made only with low-fat paneer, and should ideally be an occasional treat, not everyday fare.

Ingredients


For The Barbeque Sauce (makes 1/2 Cup)
1 tsp vinegar
1/2 tsp lemon juice
4 tbsp finely chopped onions
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp oil
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch) powder
4 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tbsp low-fat milk (99.7% fat-free )
1/2 tsp tabasco sauce
salt to taste

Other Ingredients
20 low fat paneer (cottage cheese) , cut into 25 mm. (1”) cubes
1/4 cup finely chopped spring onions (including greens)
1 tsp powdered sugar
1/2 tbsp red chilli sauce
1 tsp lemon juice
1/8 tsp lemon rind
1/2 tbsp grated garlic (lehsun)
1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp oil
salt to taste

Method
For the barbeque sauce

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for about 6 to 7 minutes. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Combine all the ingredients along with ¼ cup of barbeque sauce in a bowl, toss gently and keep aside to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Arrange the paneer cubes equally on four satay sticks and keep aside.
  3. Heat on a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook all the satays, using 1 tsp of oil, till the paneer turns light brown in colour on all the sides.
  4. Serve hot with the remaining ¼ cup of barbeque sauce.

The image tempted me to try this recipe....yummy!The well balanced flavours of the barbeque sauce, garlic, spring onions and the lemon rind give the grilled paneer a unique taste.
