Green peas skin soup,an iron, fiber and protein laden soup that will definitely be loved by one and all! seasoning the soup with pepper will elevate the taste to greater heights. I’ve used the green peas along with the skin in order to increase the fiber content. Fibre not only helps reduce the absorption of fat, it also helps to cut down the absorption of cholesterol. Thus, it’s a great soup for calorie conscious people as well as those who wish to cut down blood cholesterol levels.

2 tsp low-fat butter
1/4 cup chopped onions
3 cups skin of green peas
2 tbsp green peas
1 1/4 cups low-fat milk (99.7% fat-free)
salt and to taste

  1. Heat the butter in a deep non-stick pan, add the onions and sauté for a minute.
  2. Add the green peas skin and green peas, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Add the milk and ¼ cup of water, mix well and pressure cook for 1 minute.
  4. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  5. Blend in a mixer till smooth.
  6. Strain using a strainer or a muslin cloth and transfer back to the same pan.
  7. Add the salt and pepper, mix well and bring to boil. Serve hot.
