Description: A thick fruit spread made with fruit pieces and sugar that are cooked and reduced until thickened into a medium textured spread. The cooking process concentrates the flavour and changes the fruit pieces (chopped or pureed) into smaller, softer bits that spread easily onto bread and toast. Jam is also a popular spread and filling for desserts such as cakes and pastries.
How to select: Jam refers to fruits cooked a sugar. Jams are made of preservations of fruits. A wide variety of jams (mixed fruit jam) are amde by using a single fruit or a combination of fruits. Fruits used are usually fleshy or pulpy & acidic in nature also e.g. pears, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, apples, pineapples act.
Use: Jam are used to flavour a variety of cakes, desserts, cookies act. it can be used as an ingredient or decoration for various confections. It is also used to make sauces.
How to store: Store the jam in the refrigerator.
