Gajar ka Halwa ( Quick Recipe )

Instead of using khoya, i have cooked the carrots in milk, to bring about the same creamy taste and texture, yet save on the time taken to make the khoya. Voila, gajar ka halwa is ready in minutes.

  1. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker; add the carrots and sauté on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  2. Add the milk, mix well and pressure cook for 1 whistle.
  3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  4. Transfer into a broad non-stick pan, add the sugar, mix well and cook on a high flame for 5 to 7 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  5. Add the mava, mix well and cook for more 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  6. Add the raisins, almonds and cardamom powder and cook for another 1 minute.
  7. Serve hot or warm.

Thanks for this yummy recipe.I tried it last night it came really so yummy and delicious.I must say the way you explain and the images are really help me lot to prepare.

When red carrots are in season the 1st recipe I want to make it gajar ka halwa...usually it is very time consuming to make gajar ka halwa but this pressure cooker recipe is soo quick and taste yummm
