French Beans with Coconut

Sliced french beans are lightly touched with spices and then tossed in roasted, ground sesame seeds create the unique flavour of this dish.

Ingredients


250 gms tender french beans
1 onion, chopped
1 large sized tomato
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
2 tbsp grated coconut
1 tbsp sesame seeds (til)
3 tbsp oil
salt to taste

Method
  1. Cut the french beans diagonally into big pieces. Cook them in very little boiling salted water for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil in a tava and fry the onion for 2 minutes. Add the tomato and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the chilli and turmeric powder, french beans and salt and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Roast the coconut and the sesame seeds lightly on a tava. Grind gently and sprinkle on top of the vegetable.
  5. Serve hot.
