Variation of the famous South Indian ' Beans foogath', I've added chana dal to the dish which adds to its existing flavours.

Method
  1. Heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they crackle, add the urad dal and sauté for a few seconds.
  2. Add the curry leaves, asafoetida and ginger.
  3. Add the French beans, chana dal, turmeric powder, salt and ¼ cup of water, mix well and cover. Cook over a medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes.
  4. When the French beans and Bengal gram are tender, add the coconut and cook for 2 to 3 more minutes.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with the coriander.

Tips
  1. Select tender French beans for best results.
