Makes 4 servings


Ingredients


1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
7 to 8 curry leaves (kadi patta)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
4 leftover chapatis, torn into small pieces
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp jaggery (gur) or sugar
salt to taste
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania) for garnishing

Method
  1. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds and urad dal.
  2. When the mustard seeds crackle, add the curry leaves, asafoetida, chapati pieces and sauté for half a minute.
  3. Add the buttermilk, turmeric powder, chilli powder, jaggery and salt and mix well.
  4. Bring to boil and serve hot garnished with the coriander.
