Ingredients


To Be Mixed Together For The Rice Mixture
3/4 cup steamed rice (chawal) , cooled and mashed slightly
1 1/2 cups fresh curds (dahi)
1 cup washed and chopped cucumber
1 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup chopped coriander (dhania)
salt to taste
1/2 cup water

For The Tempering
1 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tbsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1 slit green chilli , slit green chilli
1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
4 to 6 curry leaves (kadi patta)

Method
For the tempering

  1. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When they crackle, add the urad dal, green chilli, asafoetida, curry leaves and sauté for 1 minute.

How to proceed

  1. Pour the tempering over the rice mixture and mix well.
  2. Refrigerate for a few hours.
  3. Serve chilled.
