Croutons are cubes of bread which are sautéed in butter till golden brown. They are served as accompaniments and garnishes or can be used in various salads and soups to give a crispy and crunchy texture. Croutons can be made using different flavours like garlic and cheese to give them a whole new flavour profile. A healthy version of croutons can be prepared by toasting the bread instead of frying.
