Crackling Wontons with Strawberry Ice-Cream

An elaborate dessert created with really simple ingredients. Crispy fried wonton wrappers interlaced with fresh strawberries and cream, served with strawberry ice-cream. Once the dessert is assembled, serve immediately or the wonton wrappers will soften.

Ingredients



For the wonton wrappers
12 (25mm. * 25mm. (3 " * 3")) wonton wrapper
oil to deep fry

1 recipe Strawberry Ice-Cream
1 cup (200 gms.) fresh cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla essence
12 strawberries, quatered

Method

    For the wonton wrappers

    1. Deep fry each wonton wrapper in hot oil for a few seconds till they are golden brown.
    2. Cool and store in an airtight container.

    How to proceed

    1. Whisk the cream, powdered sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl till it doubles in volume and forms soft peaks.
    2. Fill into a piping bag and keep refrigerated till required.
    3. Place a wonton wrapper on a serving plate and pipe out some cream on it.
    4. Top with some strawberry pieces and sprinkle with some icing sugar.
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make two more layers.
    6. Serve with three small scoops of ice-cream.
    7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to make 4 more plates.

    Tips
    1. Wonton wrappers are easily available at most provision stores. They are usually stored in the frozen foods section.
