Cheese Straws

Ingredients


115 gms plain flour (maida)
55 gms butter
4 tbsp grated processed cheese
3 pinches chilli powder
2 pinches of salt

Method
  1. Sieve the flour and add the salt.
  2. Rub the butter into the flour with finger tips till the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
  3. Add the cheese and chilli powder and mix well.
  4. Add ice-cold water (approx. 1 tablespoon) and make a dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured board to 6 mm. (1/4") thickness.
  6. Cut into long strips with a fluted cutter and give 2 twists.
  7. Arrange the straws on an ungreased baking dish and bake in a hot oven at 450°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  8. Serve hot or cold.
