The famous Swiss dish adapted to Indian taste, omitting the use of wine.

Makes 0.75 cup

1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1 clove garlic (lehsun) , crushed
3/4 cup milk
100 gms grated processed cheese (use combination of two strong cheeses)
salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch) powder to taste
of bread toast to serve

  1. Melt the butter in a vessel; add the garlic and fry for 1/2 minute.
  2. Add the flour and fry again for 1 minute.
  3. Add the milk and go on stirring and cooking until the mixture becomes thick.
  4. Reduce the flame, add the grates cheese gradually and go on stirring.
  5. Finally, add very little salt and pepper.
  6. Serve hot with pieces of toast.

  1. Let the guests help themselves by picking up toast pieces with forks and dipping into the hot fondue.
