Cheese croutons look wonderful and are best garnished on top of the soup just before serving. Bread is baked till it is golden brown and baked on the other side topped with cheese. You could try sprinkling seasonings and chopped tomatoes, capsicum etc. As toppings. They add to the taste as well as the aesthetic appeal of the soup.

Baking Time:  22 to 25 minutes
Baking Temperature:  200°C (400°F)

4 small french roll , cut into 3 slices
24 tbsp grated processed cheese

  1. Place the bread slices on a baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) or till they turn golden brown in colour (approx 7 to 8 minutes).
  2. Turn the slices over, sprinkle 2 tbsp of cheese evenly on each slice and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 10 to 12 minutes or till the cheese melts. Serve immediately.

Variation : tomato, capsicum and cheese croutons

  1. Combine 2 tbsp finely chopped tomatoes, 1 tbsp finely chopped capsicum , 1 tbsp finely chopped green chillies, 1/2 cup grated processed cheese and sprinkle evenly over the bread slices after turning them at step 2 and proceed as per the recipe.
