Roasted coconut and spices are ground together to make this fragrant and traditional curry. I have used black horse gram but you may use any combination of vegetable and / or lentils of your choice.

Ingredients

Method
  1. Mix all the ingredients together, except the kala chana and dry roast until golden brown in colour. Allow it to cool.
  2. Grind the mixture to a smooth paste with ½ cup of water.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a pan and allow it come to a boil.
  4. Add the boiled horse gram and salt and allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Serve hot with steamed rice.

Tips
  1. ½ cup raw chana, when soaked and boiled will yield approx. 1 cup of boiled chana.
