Hope the last week’s introduction to Microwaves was helpful to you. This time let me introduce you to the various types of Microwaves available in the market.
I am often asked which oven is the best to buy…whether conventional or a simple microwave oven. There are many factors to consider when making a choice like your budget, the space in your kitchen and your need to reheat or cook in it.
However, there are 2 basic types of microwaves available in the market today.
1) Simple microwave oven :
This type of a microwave works on the principle of radiation where the water molecules on the food get heated up which in turn causes the food to cook faster without the loss of nutrients. The only disadvantage is that foods cooked in this type do not get browned or coloured.
2) Microwave and convection oven :
These combine the speed of a simple microwave with the browning and baking of conventional ovens. It can be used as a regular oven as well as a microwave oven. With this function, one is able to cook food quickly using microwave option. At the same time, the food can be browned and also crisped, using the oven/grill option. One should use vessels that are suitable for microwave and convection for e.g pyrex, borosil; etc. if you are using the combination method.
Prepare the following breakfast recipes in your microwave and look out for the next weeks mailer with some tips on cooking in the microwave.
Regards,
