Besan Barfi

A sweet and delicious indian dessert barfi made with besan and ghee.

500 gms besan (bengal gram flour)
500 gms margarine or butter
500 gms sugar
a pinch of salt
5 to 10 cardamoms (elaichi)
30 gms mixed nuts

  1. Fry the gram flour in fat.
  2. Remove and set aside.
  3. Prepare sugar syrup(use half the amount of water to sugar)
  4. Add the fried flour and cook till it forms one lump in the center of pan
  5. Remove from fire,sprinkle crushed cardamoms, add salt and chopped nuts.
  6. Mix well and spread on greased board it thickens
  7. Let it cool and cut in to diamond shapes
