A baked vegetable preparation

For The White Sauce
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1 cup milk
salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
a pinch cinnamon (dalchini) or nutmeg (jaiphal) powder

Other Ingredients
1 cup chopped french beans
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 cup green peas
1 cup baby corn
1/2 cup chopped cauliflower (optional)
1/2 cup chopped potatoes (optional)
grated cheddar cheese

For the white sauce:

  1. Heat the butter on medium flame.
  2. Add the maida and fry it just till you get the cooked smell(don't let it get pink or brown).
  3. Let it cool for sometime then add the milk and sugar let the mixture boil once or till it seems a little thick. Remove from the flame.
  4. When it cools add the salt and nutmeg powder or cinnamon powder as per taste.

How to proceed

  1. Half cook the veggies with salt and sugar on the stove-top or in the microwave.
  2. Put the vegetables in a baking dish, pour the white sauce over it and bake at 150°c (300°f) for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Put the grated cheese and bake till the cheese melts.
  4. Serve hot.
