Baked Cottage Cheese Pie

One of my favourite desserts which tastes delicious when it is served warm. Made just with low fat paneer and fruits, you can occasionally enjoy a serving of this dessert after your meal. However, do remember to include these calories as part of your diet.

Baking Time : 15 mins.
Baking Temperature: 220°C (440°F).

Ingredients



For the cottage cheese mixture
1 cup low fat paneer (cottage cheese)
4 tsp sugar
4 tbsp low fat milk
a few strands of saffron (kesar) strands

For the fruit filling
1 cup apples, sliced
4 tsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
a few drops lemon juice

Method

    For the cottage cheese mixture

    1. Dissolve the saffron in the milk and keep aside
    2. Blend together all the ingredients in a blender to a smooth paste. Keep aside.

    For the fruit filling

    1. Mix together all the ingredients and keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
    2. Squeeze out all the water and arrange the fruit in a greased 150 mm. (6") diameter pie dish.

    How to proceed

    1. Spread the cottage cheese mixture over the fruit and bake in a pre-heated oven at 220°C (440°F) for 15 minutes.
    2. Serve warm.
