Made of hot dog rolls topped with a delicious mixture of white sauce, carrots and spring onions, this open toast gets its fabulous flavour from chopped green chillies and hot and sweet sauce.


Carrot and spring onions are by themselves a very successful duo because the contrast of orange and green stands out against the white sauce background. Preparation Time:    Baking Time:  20 to 22 minutes   Baking Temperature:  200°C (400°F)   Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 6 open toasts

Ingredients

To Be Mixed Into A Topping
1/2 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup chopped spring onion whites and greens
1/2 cup deseeded and chopped tomatoes
3/4 cup thick white sauce
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
salt to taste

Other Ingredients
4 hot dog rolls
butter for brushing
4 tsp hot and sweet sauce
Method
  1. Divide the topping into 8 equal portions. Keep aside.
  2. Divide each roll horizontally into two parts. Brush both the sides with a little butter.
  3. Bake the brushed hot dog rolls in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Spread a little of the prepared topping on each toasted halve.
  5. Spread 1/2 tsp of hot and sweet sauce evenly over each hot dog halve. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 10 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately.
