Extremely popular and usually high in calories, our low calorie version of apple pie is made by using Digestive biscuits and low fat butter for you to relish it without any guilt.

Apple Pie recipe - How to make Apple Pie

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time: Nil.  & nbspBaking Time: 20 mins.   Baking Temperature: 150ºC (300ºF).    Makes 6 pieces.

For the crust
1/2 cup crushed digestive or marie biscuits
1 1/2 tbsp melted low fat butter

For the apple filling
1/4 cup crushed digestive or marie biscuits
1 1/2 tbsp melted low fat butter
2 tbsp brown bread crumbs
1 recipe Stewed Fruit
3/4 tsp sugar substitute
1/4 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder
1 1/2 tbsp raisins (kismis), soaked in
3 tbsp water

For the topping
2 tbsp quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 tsp melted low fat butter

    For the crust

    1. Combine the biscuits and butter in a bowl and mix well to form a crumbly mixture.
    2. Spread this mixture on the bottom of a 150 mm. (6") diameter loose-bottomed cake tin and press well to form even layer.
    3. Refrigerate till set.

    For the apple filling

    1. Combine the biscuits and butter in a bowl and mix well.
    2. Add the stewed apples, bread crumbs, sugar substitute, cinnamon powder and raisins and mix well. Keep aside.

    For the topping

    1. Combine the oats with the butter and mix well. Keep aside.

    How to proceed

    1. Spread the prepared apple filling onto the crust evenly.
    2. Sprinkle the topping on it and place in a pre-heated oven at 150º C (300º F) for 20 minutes.
    3. Remove, cut into 6 equal pieces and serve warm.
