Ingredients

2 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/2 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
1/2 cup chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
3 tsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) , dry roasted and crushed
2 tsp dried mango powder (amchur) powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
1/4 cup chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
1/4 cup bread crumbs for rolling
oil for cooking

Method
  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When they crackle, add the green chilies, ginger and onions and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or till the onions are translucent.
  3. Add all the remaining ingredients, mix well and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from the flame and allow the mixture to cool.
  5. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a round, flat tikki.
  6. Roll each tikki in bread crumbs in such a way that the tikkis are evenly coated from all sides.
  7. Heat the oil in a kadhai on a medium flame and deep-fry the tikkis till they are golden brown in colour from both sides. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
