Allu matar chat in baskets is a lovely snack recipe with spiced up potatoes or allu tossed with peas, tomato and ginger flakes. The aloo and matar mixture is served on a basket made from flour and baking soda. An eye catching and sensational chat recipe.

Makes 4 servings


1 cup plain flour (maida) and a pinch of
of salt
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups water for making paste
oil for deep-frying
for chat
1 kg boiled green peas
1/2 kg boiled potato salli
4 tomatoes , cut into big pieces
2 ginger (adrak) , thinly sliced
3 to 4 tbsp oil
1 tbsp or to taste , lemon juice
1 tsp pomegranate (anardana) powder
1 tbsp roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp black salt (sanchal)
chilli powder to taste
2 tbsp dried mango powder (amchur)

  1. Fry the potatoesand keep them aside.
  2. In a non-stick pan,add oil. Add ginger and fry it for a minute. Then addthe tomatoes peas and also then all the masalas. Mix it well and heat it nicely and lastly add potatoes and lemon-juice. Serve hot.
